Well, let’s see. Do you ALWAYS want to eat alone? Probably not. Here some suggestions that have worked for other singles.
…..Form a Dinner Club. Choose 3-6 of your friends. Probably the size of you house or apartment dining area would be the limit. Each person picks a day of the week or the month (if everyone is too busy for one dinner a week). Let’s say Jane picks Tuesday. Well, she is responsible for cooking dinner for the other 5 people. It’s her choice what she cooks. If she is a vegetarian, you will have a chance to try her tasty dishes. If she wants to make soup and salad that’s ok too. She is preparing all the food, so it is only good manners that one of the diners brings the wine or whatever you want to drink. Yes, I know what you are thinking. Food allergies. The friends would have to share that with all the people in the the Dinner Club. Hopefully, it won’t be too complicated. Now you don’t have to worry about cooking on Tuesday! You are invited to dinner at Jane’s place. Fun!
…..Have friends over for Sunday Brunch. Always a popular time. Can be anywhere from 11am to 1pm to start. Try to arrange it so that they don’t stay the whole day!
…..Have a Saturday night potluck and maybe throw in a movie to watch on TV. If you want to be very creative, the food people bring might have something to do with the movie. THE HELP just cries out for southern cooking. Be inventive with a sci fi film.
…..Take away night. You invite people to your house and the food is delivered from the favorite pizza place, your neighborhood Asian restaurant, or even a gourmet upscale place, if everyone can afford it.
…..I’d love to hear your ideas.
