Do You Volunteer?

Do you volunteer?  I just returned from a two day Oregon AARP volunteer retreat in Portland, Oregon.

I started volunteering with OR AARP in 2005 when there was talk of privatising Social Security, which makes up most of my retirement income.  Luckily, the congress did not privatize Social Security and I am still able to pay my bills every month.  However, there is talk in Washington DC and some of the states that we need to make drastic changes in both Social Security and Medicare.

How do you feel about changing Social Security and Medicare?  Is it important to you?  AARP says that YOU HAVE EARNED YOUR SAY!

Go to www.AARP.org to have your say and to see what others are also saying.

Contact your state office about volunteering.  Your voice and your involvement is needed.

Will you volunteer?

I will start volunteering at an organization that I find valuable and helpful and a good fit for my talents and energies. It is much more inspiring to be able to participate in something voluntarily than it is to merely be seeking “employment”.
